Tutor Bungalow is not a tutoring agency. We are a tutoring marketplace, helping to connect students directly with tutors. By allowing students to contact and pay tutors directly, we remove the middle man (tutoring agencies) and save everyone a lot of money!
The $20 trial hour only applies to non-featured tutors. The student pays the refundable, one-time trial hour via PayPal and does not need a PayPal account. Once paid, the tutor's phone and email are released to the student. All payments after the trial hour are between the student and tutor - no middle man involved. If at any time the student is not 100% satisfied with the tutor, they may request a refund within seven days or ask for a different tutor.
All of our tutors undergo a preliminary screening process before appearing on our website to ensure quality. In addition, we utilize student feedback and other indicators to find the perfect local tutor for you.
Except for the trial hour, you pay the tutor directly. Please discuss methods of payment with the tutor.

The hourly rate varies as each tutor sets their own price. Typically, most tutors charge between $25-$50 per hour.
Typically, tutoring takes place at the student's home, or at a local library. Ultimately, it is up to both you and your tutor to decide where to meet.
Primarily you will be contacted directly by students and parents who find your tutor profile on our website. You may also check the job listings board, where students post requests as needed. Finally, we will contact you directly when we receive home tutoring requests that match your skill set and location.
There are a few steps you can take to increase your chances of a good match with a potential student. They are:
First login, then select 'My Profile', and then 'Hide Profile' from the top menu. Please note that your information will remain in our database for up to six months in case you want to reactivate your account.To cancel your PayPal subscription please email us!
First login, then select 'My Profile', and then select 'Unhide Profile' at the top menu. Your account will enter pending status and await review by an admin before being approved.
Login to your account here and click on "profile". Making changes to your profile will put your profile into a pending status. Pending profiles are manually approved once or twice a day.
Usually this is because your profile is in a pending state. Whenever you make a change to your profile it goes into a pending state, awaiting manual approval before it is visible to students. Tutor profiles are manually approved twice a day. You may also login to your account to confirm its status.
Both of these actions are handled by a single email. First go to the reset password screen and enter your email. Within 30-45 minutes you will receive an email with a red link. Click on that link and it will prompt you to create/reset your password. Doing so automatically verifies your account and logs you into your profile.
